Basics of On Page SEO

In this article, You will learn SEO optimization of your content.

Here, I want to warn you that don’t focus more on SEO, first focus on writing good content, then comes the SEO.

Once you are good at content writing, you can learn SEO optimization but this must not distract you from your prime goal of learning or doing content writing.

Don’t mix and match SEO with Content Writing.

If you really want to do SEO optimization then don’t do SEO optimization at the time of content writing. At the time of content writing just write the relevant content. Keep the SEO task for a later stage.

I am only sharing these tips only if you write content for your own blog.

Note Down these tips.  These are very powerful tips that actually work in improving your content ranking.

SEO optimization of the content starts with targeting keywords.

Are you aware of them? if not then you have to learn:

  • What are targeted keywords,
  • How to do keyword research but that’s not the part of that content writing.

You can learn this yourself from any good blog and come up with the target keyword.

So once you know your primary target keyword and then you should also know some secondary target keywords. For example, my primary target keyword may be the best android mobile and the secondary targeted keyword is the best android mobile under 10k rupees.

And another is the best android mobile under 10k in India. So once you have a list of primary and secondary target keywords. You can start optimizing your content.

Tip #1.

Keep your targeted keywords in your title. So whatever is the title of your article, it must contain at least one targeted keyword whether primary or secondary.

Tip #2.

Your URL must have a targeted keyword and URL should be as small as possible. If it is just a targeted keyword even then it is fine.

Tip #3.

Include your target keyword on your first 100 or 150 words of your article which means your introduction must have your primary or secondary targeted keywords.

Tip #4.

Include relevant multimedia in your content which means relevant images, infographics, and videos.

You can include any video from youtube into your blog if it is relevant then it helps in SEO.

If you are using images in your content, then there is the option of alternate text.

The alternate text must contain one of your target keywords for the ranking.

Tip #5.

Keep your primary and secondary keywords in heading and subheadings as much as possible.

Not just keywords, add synonyms as well in your content. Which is called an LSI.

What’s LSI?

If you search anything on google you will see some suggestions in the end. So those suggestions are LSI keywords.

This means people who are looking for your primary keyword are also looking for those similar keywords. Use those keywords in your content.

I talked so much about keywords. Now remember one more thing –  don’t overdo these keywords in your content.

Keywords are not everything.

I mean you can optimize your content but that does not mean, you can overdo optimize your content and fill it with keywords.

Add keywords that naturally fit into the content and keep that much only.

That’s sufficient. You don’t have to be very calculated.

In certain content, it could be three percent and in others, it could be one percent.

So keep them at 1%.

As long as your content is relevant and interesting for the user its fine so there are few more ways to optimize your content other than keyword.

Tip #6.

One of the ways is to give outbound links to your relevant website. So try to give two relevant outbound links. This means you give do-follow links to a relevant website.

Which has similar content to the blog that you have. It may be your competitor as well but it is ok that’s how you will make the connection. That’s how you tell Google that I am also related to that type of website.

Sound counter-intuitive but it actually works in SEO.

Tip #7.

Along with the outbound link which means giving links to other websites. You can give the links to your own article. This is called internal links.

Keep the internal link in the starting, middle, and end of your article so that’s how your whole content is interconnected with each other.

Tip #8.

One last thing – Improve your title, add the modifier in your title, and add words like quick, fast, review, best, top, and hacks.

These types of headlines make your content more powerful.

People will click on them and google will give you more ranking. I think these are the basics of SEO that you must do for all of your content. If you are working on your website.

If you have any feedback please share it with me.
